You may be a strong candidate if you meet the following criteria:
- BMI of 25 or higher
- No history of eating disorders (such as anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, or emotional eating)
- No personal or family history of thyroid cancer or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia type 2 (MEN 2)
- No history of diabetic retinopathy
- Not currently taking any other form of GLP-1
- 18 years or older

What are the side effects of GLP-1 injections?
Common side effects may include:
- Nausea
- Constipation or diarrhea
- Abdominal cramping
- Heartburn, reflux, or belching
- Headaches
- Fatigue
These symptoms often occur within the first 2–3 days after injection and typically lessen over time. As your dose increases, side effects may temporarily return.
Important safety considerations:
- Thyroid C-cell tumors: Rare cases of thyroid tumors have occurred in animal studies. Contact your physician if you notice a neck lump, trouble swallowing or breathing, or persistent hoarseness.
- Pancreatitis: Report severe abdominal pain, especially if it radiates to the back or includes vomiting. If pancreatitis is confirmed, GLP-1 use must be stopped. Occurs in less than 1% of patients.
- Diabetic retinopathy: Rapid blood sugar improvements can temporarily worsen vision in patients with diabetes.
- Hypoglycemia risk: If you're also taking insulin or medications that increase insulin, your risk of low blood sugar increases. Always inform your diabetes care provider if you're starting GLP-1.
