What is Biote Hormone Therapy?

Hormone Therapy in Wichita, KS | BioTE Certified Provider at Hazel + Honey

THE BIOTE BREAKDOWN

As we age, our bodies naturally produce less of the hormones that help us function and feel our best, such as estrogen and testosterone. These hormones play a role in nearly every major system — including brain function, energy, mood, bone health, and reproductive wellness.

When hormone levels become imbalanced, symptoms can show up in multiple ways. That’s where hormone therapy becomes essential.

What is Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT)?

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy, or BHRT, restores hormone balance using plant-derived compounds that are structurally identical to the hormones your body naturally produces.

Because they match your body’s natural hormones, they are absorbed and used effectively. At Hazel + Honey Med Spa in Wichita, we use BHRT to help clients feel more energized, clear-headed, and emotionally balanced.

The Biote Method of Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy

The BioTE Method is based on more than 80 years of clinical research. It uses tiny hormone pellets, about the size of a grain of rice, that are inserted just beneath the skin in a quick in-office procedure.

Once placed, the pellets:

  • Release a steady stream of hormones into your bloodstream

  • Are fully absorbed over time, leaving nothing behind

  • Require re-treatment only every 3 to 5 months, depending on the patient

Our hormone therapy specialists in Wichita use the BioTE Method to create long-term wellness strategies for both men and women.

The Importance of Hormone Balance

Many women begin to feel the effects of hormone changes during perimenopause and menopause, while men may experience a gradual decline in testosterone levels known as andropause.

Even small hormone imbalances can impact:

  • Energy levels

  • Mental clarity

  • Libido and sexual health

  • Sleep patterns

  • Mood stability

  • Weight and metabolism

At Hazel + Honey, we take a full-body approach to hormone optimization, helping clients regain control and feel more like themselves again. Not sure if hormone therapy is right for you? Let’s talk through your symptoms and goals in a personalized consultation.

our process

  • At Hazel + Honey Med Spa in Wichita, we follow a personalized, step-by-step approach to BioTE hormone therapy. Here’s what you can expect:

    Step 1: Comprehensive Bloodwork

The first step in the BioTE process is a full blood panel. This gives us an in-depth view of your hormone levels and overall health. Bloodwork must be completed at least one week before any pellet therapy is administered.

Step 2: In-Person Consultation with Brittany Thomas, APRN

Once we’ve received your lab results, you’ll meet with our BioTE-certified provider, Brittany Thomas, APRN, for a one-on-one consultation. During this visit, she’ll walk you through:

    • A detailed review of your lab results

    • A discussion about your symptoms and goals

    • A customized plan built specifically for your needs

This appointment allows us to connect the data from your labs with what you’re feeling day to day. From there, we’ll design a treatment plan to help restore your hormone balance and improve your quality of life.

    Step 3: Pellet Placement

Your first BioTE pellet placement will take place during this same visit. The procedure is quick, performed in-office, and requires no downtime. Some clients experience mild soreness at the insertion site near the hip for a day or two, but most return to normal activities right away.

  • Once your BioTE pellet therapy begins, we’ll guide you through every step of your hormone optimization journey — including lab work and ongoing treatment.

    Step 3: Six-Week Lab Follow-Up

About six weeks after your first pellet placement, you'll return for follow-up bloodwork to evaluate how your body is responding. This lab work is included in the cost of your initial panel.

    Step 4: Ongoing Pellet Appointments

To maintain results, most clients return for additional pellets on the following schedule:

    • Every 3–4 months for women

    • Every 5–6 months for men

This keeps your hormone levels consistent and symptoms well-managed throughout the year.

    Step 5: Annual Lab Review

We perform full annual lab work to track your progress and make any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan. This ensures your therapy evolves with your needs.

    Step 6: Feel Your Best

With consistent care and custom treatment, many of our clients report increased energy, improved mood, better sleep, and more balanced overall wellness. Our goal is always to help you feel like the healthiest, most confident version of yourself.
